The NoraEccles Harrison Museum of Art will transform itself into a small movie theater through the next four weeks. In partnership with “Art: 21”, the art museum will present a sneak preview of the sixth season of “Art in the Twenty-First Century”, the only prime time national TV series focused exclusively on contemporary art. The Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art will present these free screenings in the museum lobby on USU campus in four different installments.
The first episode of “Art: 21” will be shown on Wednesday, April 11th starting at 12:00 pm.
Everyone is encouraged to attend the free screening which will last approximately 1 hour. The other three episodes of the “Art: 21” sixth season will also be shown for free in the museum’s lobby on the following dates and times. Episode 2 will be shown on Thursday, April 19th at 5:00 pm. Episode 3 will be shown on Tuesday, April 24th at 12:00 pm. And episode 4 will be shown on Wednesday, May 2nd at 12:00 pm.
Through in-depth profiles and interviews, the four-part series of “Art: 21” reveals the inspiration, vision and techniques behind the creative works of some of today’s most thought-provoking artists. The sixth season premieres on PBS April 13th with a new episode each Friday through May 9th. “These screenings will allow everyone on campus or in the local community to watch these episodes before they air on TV, so it will be an exciting and rare opportunity,” said Deb Banerjee, the Curator of Exhibitions and Programs for the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art.
“We hope that participating organizations find ways to best utilize the Art21 materials for their respective communities and that audiences will take full advantage of the events in their area and discover the life-changing potential of viewing creative role models at work,” said Susan Sollins, Executive Producer of Art21. “Our goal is that these events spark new conversations, and expose all kinds of viewers to the important work of the artists profiled in the series,” she said.
